ABOUT

I'm 59 and been learning to play bass for a couple of years now. I live about 30 to 60 minutes north of Seattle at Lake Roesiger which is right between Snohomish, Monroe, Lake Stevens and Granite Falls.
Performed a couple of shows at The Vessel in Lynnwood with the School of Rock adult program. Made me realize that I love playing bass in a band setting and really want to play live again. So I'd really like to start an Old Dudes/Dudettes doing hard rock covers kind of thing. As well as original material if ya have written some and we, as a band, like them. I also dig the idea of turning pop songs into hard rock songs. Similar to what Type O Negative did with Cinnamin Girl and Summer Breeze.
So I've cleaned up my little basement workspace and turned it into a rehearsal space. I even bought a used drum kit (needs a bit of TLC) to help entice a drummer into joining.
The genre I want to play is hard rock from the 70's thru 90's. From Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, AC/DC and Scorpions to Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Deftones, STP and Godsmack.
My goal is to get a band together of like minded individuals, start picking out songs we want in our setlist and then learn them, practice them and rehearse them till we can play them in our sleep. With the end goal of finding places to play. During this time my plan is to obtain a decent PA for future events and shows.
Now to get some of the possible awkward stuff out of the way... I'm rather liberal in my political stance and worldview. Prefer to hang with thise who have similar political views. I am an advocate and smoker of cannabis. I have dogs that won't be in the basement during our rehearsals... but there will be hair. Basically I'm an older hippie type of personality that loves hard rock and wants to do what he never had the opportunity, resources, time or support to do when was younger... learn to play the bass and be in a rock band.
Whew... that was long-winded, but if you managed to read all of this and feel like you want to come check me and my place out... I'd really dig hearing from you.
