39 yr old with years of experience playing in several bands from local gigs to national cross-country performances. I’ve appeared on 5 albums including some local radio in support of some singer/songwriters.
Zydeco music: Love this stuff
HUGE BONUS POINTS TO WHOMEVER CAN REMEMBER “SLIDE” In the 1990’s!!!, this Boston-based band did an amazing job blending Zydeco,funk,blues and ROCK they had a faithful followings, wrote performed mostly original material.
Anyway, I would love to explore alternative takes on this genre.
I play both bass and guitar. Prefer bass these days and have both electric and acoustic upright. I prefer to play rhythm guitar with some lead parts but prefer to blend in as opposed to in your face on top melt your face etc…
Influences run gamut from Beatles to Beasties and all in between. Have played bass for a great live hip hop band. I love classic rock, prog, heavy, some pop rock, Roots/Americana, folk, punk, ska, trip hop. Not into Metal but have nothing against it.
I can sing some background vox but am NOT ”a singer”
On strings, I have near-perfect pitch and can work out most songs fairly quickly.
Best experience that I’d recommend everyone challenge themselves with once in their musical journey is to play in support of an Open Mic/Singer Songwriter gig. I was very lucky to have been asked to be a part of a 3-4 piece backline band for a weekly, well-attended open-mic gig, This venue was awesome & the night well-run so it attracted a good number of talented musicians & writers. INere, I quickly learned the value of listening,READING other players, taking the lead when necessary
