ABOUT

I'm a singing drummer seeking to form a new band, OR join a band of energetic/versatile musicians capable of rocking out and laying the groove.

(Please read carefully)

Hello hello! So I just moved here from Orlando and I'm looking to form or join a new well rounded variety band, that I would LIKE to continue to range from Reggae, all things Rock, Latin if the opportunity presents itself, some old school oldies for fun, country or metal to add a twist, hell even THE BLUES. I've always had a good ear and on one hand if I had to pick one genre I'd choose hard rock or metal because of the showmanship outlet, but being versatile is priceless cause it gives you way more options soooo we can be versatile or straight rockers. Either is fine depending on what we want to do. Regardless, my ideal DREAM bandmates would be able to emody these 4 catergories:

1) VERSATILITY to tailor to any particular venue, demographic, or setting, AND to showcase the wide range in what we do,
2) SINGING because it eliminates the burden of one person having to learn all the lyrics, is intriguing for the crowd to see the band trade off who's got leading vocals in the next tune, grants anyone the opportunity to play "frontman" in the event there's any type of vanity itch if need be, but most importantly allows for vocal harmonies,
3) PERFORMANCE because at the end of the day we’re not playing songs, we’re performing them, so perform. (see drumming videos) Being a showman isn’t everything but it’s important to me. It’s the difference between hearing the songs in a playlist or experiencing them. We’re not a juke box, we’re a band, so I don’t just want people to hear, I want to see them trying to move people out the way to watch.
4) Lastly, "THE LOOK" (Self explanatory)

It’s not a checklist to have all 4 but it would be awesome! :D I've played in hard rock, afro-cuban, smooth jazz, metal, country, reggae, Christian, blues, latin jazz, classic rock, top 40, and progressive metal bands, both original AND covers so when I mentioned versatility I'm not lying. I just like variety if its an option...unless it's hard rock or metal for the aforementioned reasons. I've been lucky enough and value being able to have played with so many great cats so far. I've graced the throne with the likes of Macks Daddy, Ancient Echoes, Absolute Zero, Wasted Presley, Fine Swiss Cheese, Woodwork, and my Tool tribute band May Nerdstick to name a couple. I have my own practice spot, believe all decisions should be majority if not unanimous, have a great formula for song selection, a innate ability to construct a set list to ensure a flow, STRONGLY believe in collaboration, and am usually the joker of the group. :P That being said I'm dedicated and take the time we do set aside to practice, write, or rehearse seriously and with no distractions, but I like to party and joke as much as the next guy! :D I'm open to writing originals and have always enjoyed inserting them in setlists to surprise people. =) So if we wanna be a musical chameleons or concentrate on melting peoples faces off hit me up here, on the gram @ SumPuertoRicanGuy, or email me at [email protected] so we can schedule our first jam sess and check out the chemistry! Let's do it!

(An example for bands I would love to perform and continue to cover are Led Zepplin, 311, Foo Fighters, Incubus, Rebelution, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Stone Temple Pilots, Pink Floyd, Santana, Stevie Wonder, Rebelution, Mana, Jimi Hendrix, and or Tool to name a few.)
The goal is to have an encyclopedia of material to be able to tailor and choose from, a guideline for which the band can make collective decisions. In a band it's ALL about the collaboration.
