ABOUT

My band has been playing on and off almost 3 years.
We are all dying to get some momentum going and book some recurring gigs in Brooklyn this summer at real music venues but we need a good bassist ( I believe the bassist is the mvp)

About to release a third album, but you can hear some of my older tunes and style on Spotify (Sophia Kayafas) Newer material is uploaded above.

The band brings a malleable and experimental approach to the written and produced arrangements. I love the fuller sound and control we can have as a unit to dial in on what is engaging about each tune.
The music tends to be genre defying, which is cool. Depending on who is playing with me, the songs can totally shift genres and pick up different flavors. I truly enjoy and embrace this quality.

I have always played by ear and enjoyed playing and writing music. These past few years I started taking more seriously writing, recording, producing and playing out my own material. The band" feels like the logical next step in sharing it. It also seems vital to the process of developing the music and my musicianship further.

Because this is New York- everyone has a side gig. My "band mates" have been a loose concept. I am lucky to have such an amazing and committed drummer and guitarist I have now, but It was a journey. True pros are often "pay to play and I respect that, but it's expensive and complicated to organize. It has been a revolving door of various musicians with many different backgrounds and skill sets, the more gigs we play, the need for a permanent fixture of people has become more apparent.

We have been developing a sound that is specific and it's hard to invite walk-ins to play such specific baselines at this point. It has been super difficult finding a committed bassist to learn the material because they often have their little bass fingers in too many music pies! Hoping I can find someone here.

if you join us, even if only for this summer, we need you for weekend practices to have a real interest in the music and perfecting your craft. The added pressure of being paid is something I am actively working to guarantee each gig, We all have second and third jobs, so If you are making a living from only playing music, working with us might not be a good fit for you.

I want to make really good music, have a tight set, great stage presence and professionalism and really enjoy playing the material together.

We need to have a press kit that demonstrates all of these things in a compelling way via audio and video! (another side project I'm in the midst of completing)

Once we create this press kit, we can apply to cool venues, book consistent practices, and land gigs with confidence knowing the whole band can commit and deliver.

My goal is to put a talented semi permanent group together that I can book gigs and advertise with. I am confident that with open minds, hearts, and some practice, we can perfect our sound together, and take Brooklyn by storm!

Lastly, I have plenty of material. I write music constantly and have written over 40 solid songs at this point.
I have prepared a gig booklet with tab for every song.
I have a dropbox folder with each song from the set- both produced to learn the parts, and acoustic to play along with.

We usually practice in the music building on weekends in manhattan and battallion studios in brooklyn
