ABOUT

Lead guitarist currently (as of Jan. 2024) working with another lead guitarist (Mr. Mashnote who is on this very site, trust me he's good!) on a start-up loud original hard rock project with punk and metal influences.

We are looking for drums, also lead vocals and bass, possibly keys. We started with a few covers and are working on originals. The goal is a band of killer players to demolish every other band in Denver with world-class songs and ferocious performances.

Dad rock this ain't! Although we are both dads :-) Not grunty death metal, not riff salad djent, not screechy metalcore... classic heavy riffage to punch audiences in their faces. Do you have any idea how hard it is to start a band up? Help us out!

Influences: Sabbath, Rainbow, Maiden, Priest, Purple. Wolfmother, Rival Sons, Kadavar, Clutch, Prong, High On Fire, Torche, Wolfmother, King Gizzard.

Some covers to get us going:
Wicked World - Black Sabbath
Killing For Jesus - Circle Jerks
Into The Fire - Deep Purple
Tornado Of Souls - Megadeth
Teenagers - My Chemical Romance
You’ve Got Another Thing Coming - Judas Priest

If you join, pick a few more in this vein. The purpose of the covers is NOT to be a cover band, but to give us something to gel with as a band as we get going. And kind of a test... we want this to be a collaboration but we also don't want people who can't demonstrate the discipline to learn stuff.

Me: I'm primarily a lead guitarist whose roots are in classic rock, 1st wave metal, stoner rock and thrash, with equal small dashes of punk rock and prog to season well. I sing and have fronted 3 or 4 bands, depending how you count, and I've sung backups in several more... yes I can sing and play at the same time. My vocal register is fairly high, and I have much experience with singing harmonies, recorded and live... and I can also do brutal screams if the music calls for it :-)

100% sober. I have nothing against people who drink or smoke, but I've been in too many bands where the focus becomes the party and not the music.

Finally we're looking for strong players who actually practice on their own time. We do! Kind of sad I have to say that, but if you only play at band practice, you're probably not progressing.

Read this far and interested? matthewjfoster at msn dot com if ya know what I mean!

In the days when my amplfier was built, effects loops were practically unknown. Therefore I run all effects in series. I am a strong believer in the philosophy that it shouldn't take too much more than a good guitar playing through a good amp in order to make a good sound. Stacks of flashing lights, knobs and LED screens are not my style.
