Hi! I’m a guitarist looking to form a colorful, dynamic, whimsical *instrumental* acoustic band. I’m open to different ideas, but in my head I envision an ensemble of 4-5 people that includes winds (e.g. flutes), bowed strings (e.g. violin), bass, and a percussionist. That said, multi-instrumentalists would be ideal to allow for flexibility.
As for the type of music, I’d like a happy blend of folk, world, indie, country, and even early music, classical, and jazz. I also write a lot of video game music, and I'd like to incorporate some of that into the project.
As for me: I’m in my late 30s, am self-taught at guitar and songwriting, and have a scrappy, confident style. I spent the past several years in Europe as the main guitarist/songwriter in a touring old-school rock band, moved back to ~Philly last year, and am itching to play again. I also play (to varying degrees) piano, bass, uke, and was recently gifted a vintage banjo that I want to fix, learn, and employ in the project.
I understand the need for flexibility in people's lives (my own included), but I'd like to take this seriously with regular practice to craft a set and play around Philly, with the intention of building up to bigger shows, recording, etc.
