ABOUT

I'm a primarily blues musician. Proficient in early Delta, Memphis, Chicago, Texas, and all of the 50's Rock'n'Roll, psychedelic 60's rock, and 70's rock that all branched from those iterations of our beloved 12 bar, I-IV-V songs. I've been a journeyman with local bands since 17 years old however, and living here in the southeast tends to require that one learn country and bluegrass stylings, which I've been proficient with for years as well. I AM NOT trying to be in a country or string band! I can do those things, but I don't prefer them. I am also well versed in jazz composition and improvisation on multiple instruments. I can play many classical and flamenco pieces on the guitar as well. I would guess that I have a stable of over 200 covers which I can play and sing at a professional level. Everything from early Muddy and Wolf to the Allman Bros at the Filmore in '71. I am an expert on any guitar, whether fretted or with slide, electric, acoustic, lap steel, or resonator. I am also an expert blues harmonica player and powerful baritone to tenor range vocalist. I can also do some falsetto up to soprano range. I am more than capable on bass. I started playing drums about a year and a half ago and practice quite a bit. Probably not good enough on the skins to anchor a band yet, but I'm getting there. I am also a very proficient blues pianist. My jazz, honky tonk, and more gospel style chops on the keys are not quite as good but I can play those styles. I own many professional grade instruments, amplifiers, and all the necessary effects and accessories. My ability to record at home is limited but I do have a large, comfortable, climate controlled practice space with a complete drum kit, multiple right and left handed guitars, 2 bass guitars, a weighted key electric piano with 10 instrument settings and a B9 Electroharmonix pedal that allows the piano to imitate any famous organ sound. I also have a full set of professional Hohner harmonicas with a green bullet microphone. Shure super 55 vocal mic, Shure and Peavey instrument mics, multiple stands, cables, etc. I am hoping to record my debut album soon at ETSU. Their recording lab has an API 1408 console (The same as the one in Steve Miller's home studio). I have several originals and my own arrangements of many blues and jazz standards, and classic blues/rock covers that are ready to be put to tape. I am looking to start an actual band with professionals who speak music and speak theory without needing their hands held or to be fed with a spoon. 3 practice/rehearsal sessions minimum per week. I also have a business management degree and know how to manage and promote an act. I want to rehearse, record, put together a marketable product, and then go gig to promote it.
