I am a finesse player, or so I have been told :). I enjoy writing, whether alone doing lyrics, or sitting behind the kit with a guitarist in front playing their new riff for me to try writing rhythm to. I have deep background in the bar-gigging arena, and can take it or leave it. Paying gigs are just that, right? I am not a heavy partier, and do not enjoy sharing the stage with them. I feel that the stage is sacred, really, and if you are too drunk or whacked out to remember what makes you special in the first place you defile it with the crappy performance you will be dragging me through... but I can rant about that stuff all day. With me, if I have the environment I need to perform, you will see energy, focus, discipline and professionalism. "Environment" is simply enough space to set up and enough time to set up properly- see gear list for details. I have recorded a full length CD with a former band, and although I am not satisfied with my performance on it, I have very positive memories of the process itself. I am picky about some things, anal about others, and totally flexible about the vast majority. I can play country, but you'd better be the next 'g'!

My technique is based on… nothing. I had two lessons when I was 10, and this concludes the formal education section of this posting. I learned by doing, and by watching others do, and for a long time. I know how to perform and how to look like I care about being there while doing it. I don’t like to rehearse, unless the people I am with like what they are doing (think about it…)

Influences:

Neil Peart- the Eternal Journeyman sets a fine example for any drummer to feel confident following. If I could kick like him, I’d be TOTALLY up for a Rush tribute band…
Tico Torres- Hit Man has chops that are just wicked tight and sharp, with a roll that I can’t resist. So what if it’s glam rock- he’s damn good.
Phil Collins- an uncle played “Sussudio” for me when I was young and I was so captivated that he gave me the cassette, which I wore the ink off of before playing it into full de-gaussed status.
Don Henley- ah, the Poet. He is a good drummer, but oh my can those guys write. I sound almost, but not quite, entirely unlike him when I sing.
Tommy Lee- hehe, did I mention a weakness for hair metal?
Buddy Rich- because if you have been influenced by anyone, then you have been influenced by him. One of the Immortals. We still owe him.
And all the guys I can’t name, the myriad southern rock guys and… um, southern California dudes who are probably floating face down somewhere as we speak.

Equipment List:

Peavey RadialPro 751 (Sapphire color) 10-piece drum set.
10,12,12,14,14,16 toms, 18x22 kick, 18x22 kick, set up as a gong tom.
(2) 6.5x14 snares, one left open to sound above the 10” tom.
6 Zildjian Z-custom and “A” series cymbals with two Sabian splashes
Full drum microphone set (CAD), each drum is miked plus two condenser overheads. All necessary stands and cables are present.
Audio-Technica UHF wireless headset vocal mic.
Peavey FX16 mixer, allowing me to hand the house sound people three XLR cables for drums and vocals combined, as the mixer and wireless mic receiver are in a combo case.
The set is fully rigid bagged/cased and ready for the road.

Basically, I require a 10’ wide by 8’ deep area with egress. OF COURSE I can break this down to whatever size is needed, but would you want to? Setup takes 90 minutes, assuming no time for sound settings, and tear down takes an hour.
