I'm a singer who also plays bass, rather than a bassist who sings. I was raised on radio in a family bursting with Funk and Soul, and will sing pretty much anything under the sun. My singing voice is along the lines of Don Henley or Seal; a bit of rasp with good range.
I believe that while plenty of people can sing, the ones people remember believe in what they are singing. A song about heartache just sounds better sung by someone who has been brokenhearted. I sing quite a lot of music for fun, but when I get serious I prefer deep lyricism.
