ABOUT

I’m a 17 year old [kinda] musician in Cincinnati, Ohio, and currently attend Butler Tech’s School of the Arts for their instrumental program. I mainly play bass, but I also dabble in guitar a little bit. I’m more skilled in the acoustic/rhythm type of guitar, but I’ve dabbled in lead parts here and there. I started playing music around 12 or 13 when I was just messing around on ukulele, and then I progressed up to acoustic guitar and then bass. I’m pretty much 100% self taught and have just learned my instruments through learning different songs I like that gradually increase in difficulty. I struggle with motivation to practice bass but I think having something to work toward might help me improve and keep up with practicing.

Influences

I’m mainly influenced by all types of indie. I’m into a lot of indie folk artists, mainly in the Phoebe Bridgers circle, such as Julien Baker, Lucy Dacus, and Conor Oberst. I also enjoy indie pop artists like Rex Orange County. I’ve also recently just had a phase with Djo, a psychedelic rock band, whose bass parts I absolutely fell in love with and learned right away. I really don’t mind any type of music, I’ve had phases with a whole ton of genres. My taste varies a lot; I don’t choose to listen to a lot of intense music but I love playing it.

EQUIPMENT

I’m looking to expand on my own equipment, but I still live with my dad and he owns a ton of good equipment.
I own an EB-0 SG bass, a squire stratocaster, a little classical guitar I never play, and a small fender champion amp.
I’m not sure exactly what my dad has, but I know he owns just short of like 15 pretty high priced basses, a couple good electric guitars, a couple acoustics, a mandolin, a banjo, banjuitar, and a double bass. He also owns a vox guitar amp, a big fender concert amp, some sizable bass amps that sound pretty cool, a bunch of recording equipment, and a drumset with a huge array of cymbals. All of this is set up in our home studio where my dad pursues his own musical projects.
