I'm a 58 year old surgeon reasonably competent at lead guitar on things ranging from hendrix through zep and floyd to ac/dc and crue. I've been active in DC Rockers for a few years and some guys from there and I have done a couple of open mic and showcase gigs. Ideally we find a vocalist and rhythm guitar with similar interests.
While I might have some interest in a gigging band at some point...mainly I (and the other guys) are interested in doing 3-6 open mic/show case type events per year.
