My name is Yannek (pronounced like "sonic" except with a "y"). I grew up in New Jersey but more recently I have lived in New York, D.C. and the country of Chile. I’ve been playing guitar since I was 13. Playing music has always been a fun, therapeutic, and social experience for me. I recently started singing about 2 years ago as well, and I have created a lot of completed original compositions with lyrics. I have been in a few (not so serious) bands, although not in over 2 years.
Acoustic or electric, I am down for whatever. I am new to the Denver area and looking for some new musical friends. I am always up for jamming and having a few beers BUT I can also get serious and get down to business composing and recording music. As a person, I’d say I am creative, easygoing, and positive.

Influences
I love to play all types of music, particularly things with roots in the blues and jazz. I also enjoy several types of "world music" (including Bossa, Raggae, Jazz Manouche, and Andean music). Generally, If it's funky, got a nice groove or swing, I like it.
A sample of some of my all time faves are Nina Simone, Chick Correa, Stevie Wonder, Miles Davis, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Snarky Puppy, Al Green, Fela Kuti, Sean Hayes, Herbie Hancock, Bowie, The Beatles, John Scofield, Grateful Dead, Cesaria Evora.
