There really wasn't an option to select "solo artist - starting a band", so I selected "band - seeking musicians". The band name "Zero Buffalo" is optional. I'm trying to find a bass player and a drummer, and maybe other musicians to join later. I prefer a 3 piece to start with to keep things tight at first, but, eventually, I'd like to add another "jack-of-all-trades" as well as a really good keyboard player.
I play acoustic guitar / electric guitar/ lead vocals / backup vocals /a little mandolin / drums / percussion / etc...
It would be nice to find a drummer and/or bassist that can also sing and help write music and maybe play other instruments on occasion. I believe that the person who writes the song has the right to sing it if they choose. Just wanna make some good music. I'm also looking for people who will be blunt and honest when something doesn't sound good. Willing to throw in your opinions?
I've been playing acoustic guitar since I was 9 (seriously when I was about 14), and struggling to write music for about 15 years. I'm 35 years old now. I have about 5-7 songs that are good. The other songs... well, I grew out of them and decided to drop them :) Maybe bits and pieces can still be used. Who knows.... Maybe you can help. Feel free to check out the audio files, but keep in mind, they were low quality. Not only that, but I recorded all the instruments myself. Nevertheless, you should be able to get the idea. If you think you can add creative ideas, and think that this is something you'd be interested in.... drop me an email.
Toad the Wet Sprocket, Dada, Swell, Red House Painters, Robbie Fulks, Alice in Chains, Mae, Ben Folds (Five), Counting Crows, Jackson Browne, Blue October, CSN(&Y), Skinny Puppy (ya, I know), Megadeth (ya, I know again - from my high school days), Rachmaninoff, Andreas Vollenweider, The Eagles, Joe Walsh, Steely Dan, The Frames, Blue Merle, Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova, Sarah McLaughlin, and many others... If you find that you like some of these, or similar artists, give me a shout.
I have a place to practice with drums, percussion, keys, guitars, basses, amps, PA, etc...
I also have recording equipment if we get to that point. Technically, if you're a bassist or drummer, you could show up and not worry about bringing your own equipment. I recommend that for drummers at first. However, bassists, I know that you will want to bring your own bass :). Drummers, you may also want to bring your own sticks and/or cymbals if you have a preference, but are welcome to adjust my kit to preference for tryouts.
Me, so far.... But I've found that playing/recording all of the tracks on my own gets a little repetitive. It would be nice to find a couple of musicians that have new and inspiring creative input. I don't want every song on the album to sound too much like the song before. I believe that there is a way to capture the mood of the lyrics with the music.
