For over a decade, the uncompromising force that is American Standards has been igniting the alternative music scene from their Phoenix base. These sonic architects, known for infusing punk fervor into their metalcore sound, have graced more than 500 stages with their unhinged live performances.
Their journey began with the release of the impactful 2012 album 'Still Life,' a sonic testament distributed under the banner of Victory Records, a label renowned for launching acts like Taking Back Sunday and A Day To Remember. This debut laid the foundation for emotionally charged and socially relevant music that garnered recognition from industry critics.
In 2017, Alternative Press recognized them as a "Breakout Band," and other publications such as Revolver Magazine, Lambgoat, and Decibel followed suit, with Decibel dubbing them "one of the strongest bands in the realm of hardcore and metalcore" in 2018.
Yet, beneath the layers of volatile riffs and cathartic screams lies a punk band deeply rooted in a DIY ethos and a profound commitment to their community. American Standards has weathered the storm of personal tragedy, enduring the loss of their founding guitarist to suicide and the vocalist's father to cancer. In the face of such heart-wrenching adversity, they have channeled their pain into purpose. This mission has led them to organize charity events, create compilation albums, and engage in volunteer work, all aimed at supporting the causes that touched their lives.
