ABOUT

First hitting the Dallas scene in 2014 and based out of Rowlett, TX, Caliber Theory is a hard-hitting, melodic rock band with varying influences to include: Breaking Benjamin, Chevelle, Incubus, Papa Roach, Black Crowes, Metallica, Nothing More, Memphis May Fire, Killswitch Engage, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Red, and many more. Caliber Theory's EPs "Caliber Theory" and its follow-up "No Heroes" are available from download and streaming services worldwide, including at iTunes, CDBaby, Amazon mp3, Google Play Music, and Spotify among many others.

Caliber Theory began in 2012 as the brainchild of Matthew Cox and Andrew Fox, and began to take shape with the addition of Justin Pruett (Hopeless Romantica, Alexa Reigns) on drums. After searching for the right fit, John Nunez (Kaustic) joined the fray on bass to blend a unique, groovy sound into Caliber Theory's music. With the 2014 addition of Jared Bishop on vocals (Shund, Born and Raised, SAO) the lineup was solidified and Caliber Theory was whole.

The five feverishly began writing and headed straight to the studio. Their first EP, the self-titled "Caliber Theory", was recorded and produced by Jason Schauer of SoundHaven Studios in Rockwall, TX. Ryan Ray (of "Adakain" fame) assisted with recording and oversaw vocal production of the EP. Their EP was then mixed and mastered by Travis Wyrick of Lakeside Studios in Tennessee, who has produced major acts such as P.O.D., 10 Years, and Pillar, to name a few. To accompany the release of their debut EP, Caliber Theory recorded a music video with Ty Perkins and Will Rain for their first single "Waking Up".

With recording complete and their EP released, Caliber Theory immediately began to take the Dallas scene by storm. After playing their first show to a sold-out crowd in Jared's hometown of Greenville, TX, a flurry of high-intensity shows at Dallas-Fort Worth venues such as Trees, Curtain Club, Tomcats and Reno's followed, with the group then spreading their wings regionally to east Texas and Louisiana. While extending their fan base through their energetic shows, Caliber Theory also began to see radio airplay on Dallas' own 97.1 The Eagle's Loud & Local show, in addition to frequent rotation on a multitude of internet radio stations including among others: Krave Radio, Rock Rage Radio, The Crush, NeueRegalRadio, Morning Mayhem Radio, Metal Onslaught Radio, PowerFM Radio, and across the 365 Radio Network.

After their debut EP won awards for "Best New Artist" and "Single of the Year - 'Waking Up'" from Krave Radio in 2016, Caliber Theory caught the attention of producer Rick Beato of Black Dog Studios in Atlanta, GA. Embarking on a week-long journey, Caliber Theory headed to Georgia and spent a whirlwind week recording their sophomore EP, "No Heroes". Rick's extensive writing and production credits include artists such as Shinedown, Bullet For My Valentine, Crossfade, Need To Breathe, Dark New Day, Framing Hanley, Fozzy, and Parmalee to name a few. With a clear vision in mind and with superb production from Rick & crew, Caliber Theory finished recording in under a week and headed back to Dallas.

In the months after returning home from Georgia, members John Nunez and Matthew Cox separately made the decision to focus on other pursuits in life, and departed Caliber Theory. Almost immediately however, Sean Bottoms (The Background, Hopeless Romantica) was recruited on bass and Ivan Soto (INBRYO) followed shortly thereafter on guitar. Sean and Ivan immediately proved to be an excellent fit for Caliber Theory in both personality and playing style, and their varied musical influences fit seamlessly into Caliber Theory's sound.

Newly under the management of Aorta, and with the recent additions of Ivan and Sean providing an immediate creative infusion, Caliber Theory is currently writing new music as a follow-up to their EP "No Heroes" and playing venues and festivals across the country. Check them out at their next show and join the party!
