ABOUT

I really enjoy accompanying great musicians or vocalist with guitar and/or piano. Love singing tenor backup when the song calls for it. When it comes to music my wife says I'm stuck in the 70s. I do however love to play old country music, gospel, bluegrass, mountain music, classic rock, blues, folk, and celtic. I’m learning to play swing and smooth Standards. Can read some but mostly an ear play here. No RAP here. :-)

The music played here is a project I'm currently working on for my wife. She introduced me to the standards years ago but I have to admit I'm not there yet. I recruited my son to play gut guitar on Summertime and mandolin on a few songs. I recorded all other tracks. This project is being recorded on a very inexpensive Zoom R24 Multitrack Recorder. I used a Yamaha P200 and Martin D28.

I loaded a few videos from past family jam sessions. Unfortunately, though my children live in north Alabama-Tennessee, and I moved here!! It would be nice to have someone local to jam with from time to time!!

Influences

There are so many influences in my life I can't begin to name them all. My number one influence in my life was my dad (Allen Page aka Wingate) who played rockabilly in the 50-60s then after conversion gospel. Others are James Taylor, Eagles, Ray Charles, Lionel Richie, Alison Krauss, Diana Krall, Gillian Welch, Nat King Cole, Tony Bennett, Michael Buble, Elton John, Billy Joel, Jackson Brown, Merle Haggar, George Jones, Travis Tritt, John Cowan, Jerry Douglas, Rob Ickes, Sam Bush, Tony Rice, David Grisman, Doc Watson, Russ Barenberg, Mark O'Connor, Bela Fleck, Stéphane Grappelli, Tim O'Brien, Darrell Scott and on and on!!
