Hello to everyone! My name is Ralph Emerson (if you're familiar with the 19th century transcendental movement you might be curious to know my middle name starts with a W and I'm the fourth in line ;), though I've gone by Rafe as long as I can remember.

Now, under the call sign of MAVERICK, I unravel the riddles of nirvana, flying mach 9 with my multi-dimensional, multi-platform inner-space ideas into the outer-realms of the sonic universe and into the unsuspecting ears of friends and colleagues I feel comfortable sharing my alchemy with at this point in my burgeoning music career.

Indeed, my relationship with music has been a wayward and often surprising one, as I grew up chasing the muse in one medium or another most if the time. However, it wasn't until fate dropped a serious of seemingly latent fortunate events into my lap about a year ago that I decided to take the leap of faith and test my heart, mind, and wallet out (with the ample encouragement and support from others) as a veritable Berklee born auto-dydact, self-taught producer/engineer/composer/arranger/keyboardist/drum programmer/songwriter/vocalist.

For those that are curious, my theory is quite eclectic and pulls from a wide variety of sources, to include (but not limited to): your standard functional harmony, common practice theory (e.g., macro forms of sonata allegro, passacaglia, theme & variation, rondo, counterpoint, atonality, serialism, operatic or programmatic form, etc.), non-euclidean topologies of harmony and counterpoint, MusicNovatory concepts, modern production techniques, spectralmorphology, gestalt psychology concepts, cross-media concepts (e.g., graphic design, film, etc.), psychoacoustics, and mathematical applications.

Check out the single I've posted to get a taste for my sound. I don’t prefer to pigeonhole myself into a genre, but I definitely pull elements from pop, hip-hop, the 2-step grime movement (i.e., dubstep and all of its sub-genre variations), soul, psychedelia, and classical. I suppose the catch-all "experimental/avante garde music" may best fit.

So if the you're feeling my energy and are interested in collaborating – both studio and performing artists are welcome…really artists of all flock and feather are welcome in my creative process. It helps if you live local, but I’m open to distal collabs if the relationship makes sense.
