Still playing after all these years. No drugs, no alcohol. I have been Simi retired for about 10 years, doing church gigs, and an occasional job with old friends.
I’m originally from Southern California. After the military, I used my GI bill as a music major.
While at LA Pierce College, I also played Bass in rhythm sections at Dick Groves School. I worked jobs to make extra money and I .
I also did studio work with Dick Monda (AKA Daddy Doo Drop) and Buch Relaya from the group “Red Bone” (“Come and Get Your Love”) we did radio jingles and demo’s for music publishing companies.
Around that time I met, and became a sub for Leon Gare, who did all that great bass work on Gino Vinnelli’s “Brother to Brother” Album. He was also the house Bass player at the Baked Potato Jazz club in LA.
I worked very steady until the mid-80’s. Then took a lucrative day job. I left that trade in 1994, and got back into music. Prescott Arizona was, and is a vibrant music scene. I worked in both a Blues/Rock group, Then into my passion, of Jazz music. I worked steady until 2007 when my wife and I decided to move out to Sioux City to be near the Grandchildren.
I worked some in Sioux City, We moved to NE Nebraska in 2014. I worked in two different church groups until 2022.
I’m now branching out to Omaha, Lincoln, and the Sioux City areas to work again.
I have a nice little studio/practice room that I spend a lot of time in.
Most recently I hooked up with a rehearsal band, and had fun playing with some very talented pro players on Monday nights.
If anyone is in need of an experienced Pro Bass Player, I’m ready to play. I have top of the line equipment, and have a flexible schedule.
I’m willing to drive for the right situation..I’m up for most genres, as long as it’s professional..
