ABOUT

I am looking to put together an industrial / cyberpunk / goth / EBM band. I don't have a name yet, Automux is my personal project.

For starters this will likely be studio work until a decent set of material has been accumulated but my ultimate goal is live performance. I do not use a computer for production so we can treat this as a jam band in a way. For now this is mostly for fun and to have a creative outlet. Long term I would like to make this profitable. At the end of the day I want this to be about the music and not get hung up or stressed out about anything else.

The account linked below is not the material that will be performed. This is my experimental random jam project but I linked it to give and idea of what I have done so far. I intend this new project to be darker and harder with a cyberpunk post-apocalyptic feel and I would like some vocals beyond the random samples I have used in the past. This might not work as I expect but my idea is to write the music to the lyrics. The workflow will likely evolve over time.

Feel free to message me directly on at Automux.

LOOKING FOR:
Writer / Vocalist - I'll come right out with it. I can't sing and I suck at writing lyrics. I need someone that can at the least write lyrics. If you can't or don't want to sing then I am open to having one person write the lyrics and another sing. You don't have to be good at singing as I am very open to vocal processing (vocoders, distorted chorusing effects, etc) and this fits very well with the given genre anyway. Any experience level is fine, you just need to be able to handle performing in front of an audience and have some sense of showmanship. The lyrical style I am looking for can follow traditional industrial themes. I would like to avoid the whole paranormal vampire side of goth music and have a greater focus on tech / futurepop / cyberpunk themes. Some level of Atari Teenage Riot style rebelling would be great in there as well. I was really inspired by Mind in a Box with their multi album sci-fi story. I am not looking to copy this but even having a whole album follow a story line would be amazing. This is more of a side thought than an actual goal of the project.

(Optional)
Second Synth Player- While I have enough gear to handle all of the needs of this project, I am open to working with someone who wants to focus on the music side. I feel like I could do great things collaborating with another musician. If you can sing too then great. Once again, any experience level is fine. I am more of a sound designer and pattern programmer than an actual player anyway but I always make sure I am playing or tweaking something live. While I reject computers on stage I'm not going to pull hairs here. If that is all you have to work with then this is fine. A different perspective and workflow could help out a lot.

(Optional)
Digital drummer - Do you have and can play a V-drum or a Simmons drum kit (or whatever alternate percussion instrument)? I was planning on using drum machines and synths for percussion but I will gladly integrate a live drummer if you have the gear. The reason I ask for a digital drum kit is because I plan on using unique sounds that simply will not be reproducible on a standard drum kit. We will need to trigger sounds over MIDI so make sure your gear is able to do this.
