ABOUT

I'm recently retired, and now have time to pursue learning all the things I listed above. I started playing music in grade school with a clarinet, trumpet, baritone, but realized brass and woodwinds weren't my "thing." I learned to chord a guitar, and during the early 60s -- with two others -- formed a Folk Music group, playing & singing tunes popular at the time. I learned a bit of 5-string banjo before joining the Navy in the mid 60s -- to avoid the Vietnam draft -- and over the next 24 years, slowly acquired some basic Pedal Steel skills . Since that time I've been "noodling" and playing for my own enjoyment -- yet never really becoming accomplished enough to play with anything other than tavern or bar bands (HonkyTonk), in my distant past. What few times I've been able to "Jam" with others filled me with excitement, and I knew being part of a group of like-minded individuals was the best learning experience of all time. So, now I'd like to find a couple of locals, either hobbyists or pros, who'd llike to get together to "jam" to some country tunes. Maybe even work-up a 15-song act, and do... whatever happens!

I've recently started taking my acoustic and electric guitar playing to a higher level, and am learning more scales and riffs to get away from chording exclusively. I've always enjoyed listening to some blues and jazz, and in addition to playing traditional country music, wouldn't mind expanding my horizons -- a bit :-) You can Google Bob Hanshaw “To Dwell On What Is Obscures What Could Be” and contact me there too!
