ABOUT

Looking for a keyboardist/pianist/guitarist and a drummer, or an existing band that has similar influences and goals.
I'm open to just about anything musical but the ideal situation would be to form a Fusion/Prog group, with similar likes/goals/background with a focus on Jazz fusion. Think Tribal Tech, Chick Corea Electric Band, UK, etc. **But again, I'm open to other ideas. Writing originals as a group is the goal.

Like minded and willing to experiment and write is important. Clean and sober is important. Age is not important, younger or older. Looking to rehearse once a week. Gigs? If the right one comes along. Future recording - yes.

**** The song posted is a piece off an album I cowrote with the guitarist in a Prog rock/metal band many years ago. It's not exactly what I want to do now, but similar.

About me: I've been a musician since age 12, bassist since 1990. Primarily fretless but have and play both. Steady band experiences have been in Prog metal, metal, jazz fusion, classic rock and Christian Contemporary. Bass to me is a voice, the bottom end and rhythm but also melodic and expressive. I have played various other styles and sessions and call gigs. I have lead bands, written/cowritten music and have some studio experience - really enjoy odd time signatures and lots of notes, when it makes sense. I can read but am better with charts due to experience. I don't believe in limiting anyone in the band that wants to speak, literally or figuratively. I'm middle aged, have a family and other interests, so I'm not looking to "make it" or be a rock star. Been there, done that, moved on. I am currently the principal bassist at my church.

Influences

What gets me going is fantastic music and arrangements. Mainly I'm influenced by players with me in the room that are focused and want to have fun and create. **I am not influenced by huge egos and people who think the bass is "easy" or just a background thing. I have no time for people who just want to party. Substance abuse is a waste of time.

I loved Chick Corea's arrangements and music. Bassists like Tom Kennedy, John Pattitucci, Steve Bailey and rockers like Geddy Lee and Chris Squire. Ron Carter, Dave Weckl, Mark Egan, Jordan Rudess, Rick Wakeman.
