ABOUT

Gary Martin is known as the "Prince of Blues" a moniker bestowed by his Chicago peers. Known as the hardest working bluesman in Canada, Martin who was born in Chicago, learned the blues at the feet of Chicago's legends starting with his uncle Hubert Sumlin, Howlin Wolf, L.V. Johnson Buddy Scott and the Scott family and the list goes on. Known for his outstanding rhythms, his showmanship, and his shoes Martin is a class act. Gary performs at casinos, festivals, and clubs across both Canada and the USA and has performed in Europe and Japan. He has been nominated for a Juno, performed for the Prime Minister of Canada, and been recognized by Canada's House of Commons and many Black organizations for his musical contributions.

Early bluesmen both from the Mississippi Delta and Chicago - Gary was fortunate that his influences came directly of the bluesmen themselves as Gary was taught and mentored and had the opportunity to perform with over 150 of the greatest bluesmen we have known.
