ABOUT

Looking to start a project - style to be determined, may actually start two different projects if necessary. I have a collection of ideas, some raw, some more developed, and I'd like to flesh them out. Here's in a nutshell some specific things I'd like the project to incorporate:

1. Must be fun, relatively ego-free, not out to conquer the world but still want to make awesome music. If you're an alcoholic or drug abuser it probably won't work out. I'm not anti drinking or occasional pot use (I'm not a smoker myself) as long as it doesn't become a problem. Good chemistry is important between bandmates and I'm super easy to get along with so I doubt that'll be a problem!

2. Understand that the song comes first. I love working with musicians more talented than I especially when they don't feel the need to prove how many chops they have. Sometimes less is more! Whatever the song calls for is what we should do.

3. Looking for musicians and creative people as opposed to instrumentalists. For example, I don't want a drummer....I want a musician who happens to play drums. Know what I mean?

4. Personally, I get more excitement from the creative process of writing and recording a song. Performance is secondary to me. Having said that, I am very interested in playing some live shows. I am not interested in touring at this time. Mainly want to spend time with other like-minded musicians and make really great music that we love. Go from there. Sound good?

So..... what style of music?!?? Good question. I have two styles in mind and honestly don't care which way I go. Like I said I may do both. Let me know which appeals to you more:

POSSIBILITY #1 - fun, unique combo of guitar/synth/sequenced rock that has character, quirky attitude (without being cheesy), steady beats and accessible lyrics/melodies with a dash of subtle humor. Influences: Kaiser Chiefs, Weezer, Scissor Sisters, Ben Folds Five, We Are Scientists

POSSIBILITY #2 - a little more introspective and mysterious, sprinkled with a little darkness but not depressing. Somewhat of a hybrid between acoustic guitar influenced songs surrounded by edgy, raw sounds, samples, and beats. Infulences: Radiohead, Raconteurs, Muse, Coldplay, The Dears

Or perhaps some mix of the two above. I don't wanna get too specific because it really depends on the personality of the band members!

I'd be interested in either playing bass or guitar in these projects. I will flat out tell you that you'll find people out there who are better technical players and more dedicated to their instrument. I'm a creative guy, an idea guy, not a virtuoso. But I believe in practice and sounding solid so don't worry about that. Having said that, I'm looking for the following:

- guitar (lead/textures or rhythm)
- bass
- drums
- vocalist (lead and/or background)
- synth (ideally geeky evil genius type)
- other wildcard instrument ?? (are you creative?)

OK that's more than enough to hopefully capture a few interested people. Let me know if you wanna get together!
